Working through various pre-surgery to-do lists. Hip replacement surgery Mar 14. Wifey is salivating at the thought of me not doing my daily happy hour for a couple of weeks (limited walking, no driving, etc.) so I'm lining up friends to sneak me some mini bottles once I get home (and off the opioids). Hmmm... maybe I'll schedule her some massages around 5pm, you know, to thank her for nurse duty.Richmond and Mathews County, VA. Large BGE, Weber gas, little Weber charcoal. Vintage ManGrates. Little reddish portable kamado that shall remain nameless here. Very Extremely Stable Genius.

Put it on at 10:30 and watching temp go back up slowly. Thought I'd try Ragin' River on the Boston butt with some pecan and apple chunks.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

@nolaegghead Related, if you have your choice between lucky and good, take lucky every time. Most eggcellent.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

With the little one at the local fun park. Nothing like a bunch of games and a massive injection of sugar to lift the spirits."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

Progress of the Boston butt cook 5 hours in, grate level temp is 318 and internal temperature of meat is 181. This 8.5 pound butt is moving right thru the stall. No pictures yet but I can hear the fat drippings sizzling in the drip pan. Cooking fat cap down. Original dome temp at 10:30 was 327 and I'm not touching anything until it hits 205 internal. Pictures then.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

Pulled the Boston butt at 205 degrees internal. Probe went smooth everywhere. It is resting now after a 7 hours and 15 minute cook.
Didn't pull the bone but it moved very easy. This is going to church tomorrow for pot luck meal, well most of it.Ubi panis, ibi patria.
