That's a nice look chunk of protein.  Curious, why are you clipping the food saver bag to the container?

To keep it down in the water. Sometimes they want to float.

Got it.  My SV lids are solid, so I've never noticed.

Yea, it’s rough. The most frustrating part is that we actually looked pretty good this year before the injuries.  A lot of our best players are on the last year of their contract. All this progress might blow up.

It was in the low 40's today here in the Twin Cities. A perfect day for any outside work that needs to get done before the white stuff shows up. My options were to finish up cleaning the garage or to clean the smoker. The smoker won. Man do we get spoiled with the BGE when it comes to cleaning. This smoker is greasy, smokey, and time consuming when it needs a deep clean. (Every 5-6 cooks) I put it in the Blackstone category. Somewhat fun to clean and beats out standing in front of a sink with suds.

Trying to watch the Broncos/Bengals game; the uniforms are too similar for my old eyes.

@WeberWho - No expert here but at the end of every run on the stick burner I hit the internals with a hose spray (Lang recommends-not my idea).  In the winter I use a spray bottle and do the same thing.  Scrape the bottom out.  Since I have such a small cooker, the next day I also clean out the fire-box.  (I line the bottom of the fire-box with HDAF and that makes the clean up easy.) Pretty quick and then ready for the next run.  FWIW-

I'm too much of a wuss to use water in it or near it. I've watched a few videos with people steaming the inside with a hose. I knock everything down with a putty knife and scape it out. I leave a film of grease on the bottom. I should hit it with some water and simplify everything but I can't get my head wrapped around spraying water on steel. I like the idea with HDAF. I will be doing this my next cook. Thanks for the tip!

@WeberWho Maybe start with a gentle garden variety spray bottle application and then go from there.  I thought the same but figured I would give it a go.  I did ask Lang about it before the first shot and the answer (as you would expect) is "no problem."  Perhaps it continues to "harden" the steel =)

After restoring The Good One Open Range smoker last year I'm being way anal about this smoker and potential rust. I like the spray bottle idea. Start small I guess. That would have never event crossed my mind. That would definitely help with winter cooks here in MN. No outdoor water. Have you washed the outside of your smoker? @lousubcap Any tips or recommendations? Mine is looking pretty nasty with grease and grime

@lousubcap I would have bet money HDAF would melt in the bottom of a firebox. You learn something new every day...

@WeberWho - I have only had the Lang for around 14 months-never washed the outside as all the action is inside.  I do spray the outside with cooking oil the following day after cleaning the fire box and cover it (fully exposed to the weather) with a $ 12 tarp. Looks new.
