We don't invest nearly enough in education.

    I'll revise my statement.

We don't invest properly into education.

At a primary level, we spend too much money trying to put technology into the classroom when numerous studies indicate that class size and individualized attention make a far greater impact on academic performance.

We're below average based on GDP to expenditure per FTE student.  But I'm talking about just a small part of education - the public colleges and universities.

Figure 1 Annual expenditures per full-time-equivalent FTE student for elementary and secondary education in selected Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development OECD countries by gross domestic product GDP per capita 2011

@bgebrent I'm willing to bet that you're like a lot people and just hung up on a buzzword...free.  Clearly, it's not free.  It's funded by the taxpayers.  The million dollar question, is do you want to live in a society with a more educated population? Or a less educated one?

As a taxpayer I would rather my tax dollars go toward educating Americas youth more than any other cause.  For the USA to remain in the forefront of global economics our future generations need to be leaders in their respective fields.
Brother, I'm not like "a lot people " nor am I hung up.  The million dollar question is much more about do you trust tax dollars that you earned be earmarked by you or some politician?  I'm a huge proponent of education!  If you believe throwing money at our public education system will end well, then you would also believe low and slow cooks are done top off and bottom vent wide open.  Education is key.  Make it free and it will be equal to what it costs.

I'm impressed by your ability to relate this discussion back to the BGE. I'm glad we can agree that education is important.

Education is critical as you know.  Give it away and it's worth exactly that.  Are you coming to the NC Butt Blast?  I'll be there and will convince Carey to vote for...

I'm really excited about tomorrow morning.  I'm driving the truck to Red Stick (AKA "Baton Rouge") to take a look at a craigslist dirt bike - guy is driving from Lafayette to meet me half way.  (or is it from Lake Chas meeting me 2/3?)

It's a Honda CRF250R - 2007.  $1600.  If you don't hear from me again - I'm probably dissolving in a vat of hydrochloric acid somewhere in the sticks.

    I'll post some pictures.

I know.  I'm a bit nervous.  I talked to the guy, texted a bunch, seems like a genuine good dude.  I'm going to try to get my buddy John (he was at brisket camp) to go with me.  Packin' heat, knives, throwing stars, mace, taser either way.

Just got back from a shooter Jennings concert. He was backed by his father's band.
    Cooking a butt.
Opening act was better. John Michael Montgomery was there, as were several other Nashville dudes. Kinda cool, but, meh.
