I don't really have one. I know I like the acog. I've used one for many many thousands of rounds. I know if I spend a grand or more it's easy to get one I like. I'd like to keep it around $500.jtrivers87 said:What is your price range?
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -
Go old school. Need to learn to shoot with old flip ups first. You young kids just love it the easy way
-
Check out vortex. Can't beat them for the price. I have 3 and they are very well made. Great glass. If you want to splurge check out night force.Marysville, OH

Ahem... Sir, I earned my expert infantrymans badge (Google it) with iron sights. I can hit a man sized target at 300 meters with iron sights more times than not.UrbanForestTurnings said:Go old school. Need to learn to shoot with old flip ups first. You young kids just love it the easy way
The optics are for fun. Not for need.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -

Trigger control. One shot at a time. That's all that's needed

Travis, don't forget to mount the fleshlight.

I have plain sights on mine (the top one) and The Man has EoTech 512 on his (the bottom one).I shoot just fine with plain ol sights.Eat, drink and be merryHuntsville, AL ~ LBGE noob

Dear friend, I know you are just posturing. Just like I am but please know when it comes to shooting, from in your face to 800 meters, I am totally proficient.UrbanForestTurnings said:And what kind of spot scope do you use? If you don't need one you ain't shooting far enough

I've had several EOTech's.......they're great. If you want to be able to co-witness, you'll need a riser or one with it build in. I like them better than the ACOG's since you can add the magnification if you want--takes more rail space, but that's plentiful.
On my CQB rifle, I run a EXPS 2-2 with a G23 3x (gen2) magnifier behind it. I had a Gen1 with the spring loaded flip-to-side, but I like the Gen2 with the throw-to-side mount better. ARMS flip up BUIS's front and back.
On my longer range AR, I have a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42 Mil-dots in a Burris PEPR QD mount with a FastFire III on top.
If you're looking to save some money, look at Primary Arms.

I second a vortex scope, I have a vortex strike fire that I like. The strike fire is now an older verison and can be had for around $100. Also vortex has a lifetime warrenty. So I know they are on the lower end of the spectrum but check them out. It can also be co witnessed with nothing else needed.

I've owned several acogs, several aimpoints, one eotech, and now have a weaver 1.5x6 illum reticle. I hate it. It requires too precise of eye angle.Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -

Yeah that's the only thing I didn't like about the ACOGs. I've never owned one, but have played about with every model available at SHOT Show. You can always mount a RMR on top.The EOTech reticle is so easy and fast to acquire, that what I went with for a CQB setup. If you do go a ways, flip the magnifier into place and you can still aim with both eyes open. The new G33 Gen3 has an even larger FOV, better eye relief, and is an ounce less than the G23.
I really liked the cool factor on the Samson FTS mount, but it was loud and did not into place when flipped out. The STS mount is a solid and positive lock once you get it over center.

Sorry. I just hate wasting rounds. >-

Here's my .308 MATEN AR platform. It's wearing an SFWA Super Sniper HD 5-20. I've had it out to 600 yds, but I'm positive that it is a 1000 yd rifle. I just don't have a range with that distance anywhere nearby. So you don't like your scope? What are you wanting to accomplish? Are you looking for CQB? Long range?
