Sous Vide chicken breast......

I dont remember who on here to give the credit too, but thanks for showing us this meal. I built a DIY sous vide cooker using a temperature controller and my rice cooker and it works nicely. I put 4 breast in a ziploc with a little EVOO, garlic, salt, and pepper, placed in cooker for 1 hour and 20 minutes at 149 degrees. While this was going on I used the wok to stir fry some 'sparagus and warmed up the egg with some Italian sausage. When chicken was done it looked good enough to eat but I heated up my salt blocks to 600+ degrees and seared both sides while melting a little fresh mozzarella on top, with a pinch of basil. A touch of marinara and it was a great meal with Caesar salad. So thanks again for the recipe.

@tz666 nice set up FYI I have the same PID controller and it will burn out your rice cooker over time as rice cookers are not designed to shut on and off as frequently as needed. I found the best upgrade was a bucket water heater

Does your bucket water heater move the water at all of just rely on heated water rising to be enough, or do you have some other kind of pump?McStew said:@tz666 nice set up FYI I have the same PID controller and it will burn out your rice cooker over time as rice cookers are not designed to shut on and off as frequently as needed. I just got the same bucket heater pictured and a 3 gallon polycarb tub. My bucket heater looks huge in my 3 gallon tub, but I see thats not an issue.

With such a small volume of water, is a circulation pump necessary? I bought a pond pump to put in the bottom of my 3 gallon tub to circulate but Im not sure its necessary with such a large heater and small amount of water. What do yall think?

I run it without it sometimes in the small three gallon container however it works great in my igloo when I ran 30 chicken breast for a dinner one nightHermosa Beach CA

Went this route on last nights sous vide chicken breast to save my rice cooker. Little garlic salt and soy sauce in the bag. 149 for 1:25. With some wok'd zuchini noodles, mushrooms, and onions. Stir fried with a good squirt of siracha.
