Egging to go

Back on the road. Hate road food, it's inconvenient to my weird schedule and expensive for what you get. I vac sealed chicken thighs and roasted veggies in separate packages. Actually pretty good tonight. Trying to eat healthy for a while. Any advice or ideas for traveling? Not menu items per say just transporting. I have a yeti.

I don't envy you. I used to love to travel for business, but now I hate it. I haven't had to do it in years.

@Henapple, brother I know you've mentioned it before in the past, but you'd be a perfect candidate for a mini or a mini maxx.
You could make some of those damn good looking quesadilla's you made last week while out on the road.

Like you did with the chicken thighs. How about doing the same thing with the usual suspects like brisket, Chuck roast and pulled pork. Warm and eat as a sandwich or plate them.

Make some of these: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/campfire-foil-packs/ Throw them on the exhaust manifold when traveling.  When you feel like a hot snack, viola!

I often go to the grocery store when I'm on the road. Grab some salad, cheese and cold meat and a twelve pack.

sometimes I go sit at the bar and drink my supper, or pick up a 12 pack and do the same...I hate work travel. Luckily it's a few times a year, but next week....argh.

Pulled beef with sautéed onion and peppers can be frozen in individual packages for a single sandwich. Just place on a hoagie with cheese and heat until the cheese melts.

Any road will take you there if you don't know where you're going.

I swear I posted this already in this thread but don't see it. Take 2 :

What about making something like brisket chili at home, vac seal and freeze. should last a couple of days in the yeti. Can you put dry ice in the yeti? Maybe with something in between the ice and inside of the cooler?

Last time we went to mountains we took individual bags of frozen pulled pork and some rolls. Drop bags in boiling water to heat up and throw on roll. You have kitchenette in hotel?

I too traveled extensively for years. I feel your pain. Microwave mealing sucks but can be tolerable.
Pitas can hold a plethora of meals from lunchmeats, pizza to stews. Stuff em with salad etc. Quick.premade.easy
Keep.and.base of condiments ketch mayo mustard and dressing and your set. Pita also come in a variety of flavors as do wraps. A fresh avocado is a nice and easy road treat as well.
Vienna.sausage is always a.heart healthy snack lol

I would much rather be able to say I was glad I did than wished I had........

I do this at work sometimes, you should be able to do this on the road if you have a cooler.  I keep a medium size mixing bowl at work and bring in egged chicken/steak/salmon/shrimp and buy salad kits from the grocery store (Sam's has them too).  I usually end up getting the asian slaw type ones because I like the cabbage and the soy/sesame dressings rather than the ones with ranch.  Anyway, I put the salad in the bowl, add some of my egged protein (pre-sliced at home) and toss mix your salad.  You just have to watch the size of some of the salad kits, some are pretty huge and not meant to be single serving, in those cases, I just don't put all of it in the bowl.

If you're going to be gone multiple days, just vacseal and freeze your protein ahead and you can either buy a salad kit each day or you can buy a couple ahead if you have a fridge in the hotel or a cooler where you can keep it cold but not frozen.
