Here we go...first brisket

Its 8am and my head hurts. Happy New Year folks! Welcomed it in with Josh Abbott Band...great show.


It all started with a trip to Restaurant Depot yesterday morn where I found a 10lb PRIME packer. I was delighted as this is my first shot at it.


Brought it home, trimmed it up, and seasoned it.


When we returned home from the show, I prepped the egg and fired it up. At 2am, brisket went on. I have a controller, so I put my faith in that and went to bed.


Woke up a couple times and everything was rockin' along at 250...so thanks to everyone on here for giving me the confidence and knowledge to do this cook. We are really looking forward to slicing this for the games tonight.

@lousubcap thank you for the video. Señor Franklin is a master. @Walt2015 it was 4.40/lb and choice was 3.79/lb. Here's a pic of it coming off the pit after 11 hours.
FTC for another couple hours and the served it up. There was quite a run on it and my hands were greasy, so I blew my opportunity for a sliced shot...my apologies. The flat was a little dry, but the point was good and delicious. I need to "try" again soon.

I just grabbed a packer from RD on tuesday and they didnt have prime. I asked and they staffer said no they dont have prime. It must be regional.Looks good so far. here is a shot of my Angus:XL BGEJoe JRBaltimore, MD
