Ceramic Grill Works 2 Tier on the Mini Max

I am a huge fan of the Ceramic Grill Works 2 Tier swing racks. I already have one for my Medium and XL Eggs, but I wanted to have a tad bit more room on the Mini Max.

With the Mini Max cooking surface the same as the Small, I ordered the Small version of the CGW 2Tier which comes with a 13" main grate and a 10" top grate. 

There were two problems with the fit on the Mini Max:

1) The collar on the bottom grate is longer that the legs of the plate setter are tall. 

2) The shaft was way too long. It actually stuck down into the charcoal when set at the desired height. 

The first problem had an easy solution. I simply flipped the bottom grate upside down so that the extended collar faces upwards. Now the plate setter can be used. 

The second problem required a slight modification. The shaft included is for a Small Egg and not intended for the squattiness of the  Mini Max. I took my sawzall and cut the 7" stock shaft down to 3-1/4". The modification went smooth and turned out pretty damn good. I can't wait to get it in action! 

The Mini Max 13" cooking surface is awesome, but who couldn't use some extra cooking space?!

I have CGW's 2 Tier Swing Rack for my small. It is a joy to cook on! That system doesn't get much love on this forum so I wanted give some.

Pretty good after the shaft reduction. Obviously, I won't be able to fit 2 pork shoulders in there, but I would load the heck out of some ABTs.

Haven't several forum members posted about issues with the CGW grate warping and having issues getting anyone to do anything?

That has not been my experience. I have had my other racks for quite some time. They are heavily used and I have never experienced any warping. This is a great product in my opinion.

Nice setup for the mini.

I have a rack from when they first came out a few years back. No warping with mine. I ike it a lot.

No WOO. The picture has the plate setter with the CGW 2 Tier rack on the legs.

On the L & XL versions, yes. The shaft has an adjustable collar allowing the top tier to be adjusted up and down depending on the cook. You may even be able to get a second rib rack on the top rack. See the link below.

Great idea! I have the swing rack in both my large and small eggs and agree it is an awesome product. My swing racks live in my eggs and I have had no issues for years. I did relocate my thermometer in my small to the outside with a wine cork. The thermometer stuck in a corn cob on the top rack, but it has been great since then.

@big_green_craig I think I am reading the perfect amount into it. You are predictable enough that when I was pretty drunk last night reading the forum and saw your other post about CGW I though thats kinda strange Mr. Spam is now mentioning these racks and then I find them on your website. You are receiving money from a company and posting their product on the forum and not even letting people know you are presenting a biased opinion.

For the record:

First, the CGW logo has been displayed on my site for quite a while. I think the product is great and it is my prerogative to advertise whatever product I like on my site. 

Second, I purchased this rack and have not received a dime from CGW. Nor is there any type of compensation agreement in place. 

The only thing biased here is your opinion of me, which I couldn't care any less. . As a hater, you sure do follow close.

A hater? Go back and read previous posts where I actually stood up for you when people were blasting you. I finally realized how suspect your posts always are either promoting yourself or something else. You have posted in the past about making money when people buy items through links in your site why would I think the CGW is any different and why would I believe you if you say you don't?
