Beer Brats First time on egg
I decided to give brats a go tonight. I'm lucky enough to have a German sausage maker close to my home (Binkert's in Rosedale, MD.) I purchased some fresh Bratwurst and prepped the egg. I picked up some St. Pauli Girl and onions, getting both into the cast iron skillet. Parboiled the brats and onions at about 400f direct for about 20 mins, then added my grill extender and transferred the brats. Drained a bit of beer from the onions, and added a cast iron fajita pan(all I had lol) with sauerkraut. Wanted so bad to put the kraut in with the onions, but the kids wouldn't touch the brats if I did. Cooked the brats to 170f and brought the egg up to high temp for a quick 90sec sear. Best I've had so far! Very tasty, and everyone loved them.

Looks good, but I'm afraid I in the kids camp. My kids, however, would be all over that.

I'll take two with the kraut. You can keep the onions.

I like me some brats and especially with kraut & onions. On occasion I will add green peppers to the beer and onions to mix it up some. Those look killer.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Thanks all! I was very impressed with how the brats and the onions soaked up the beer flavor. Juiciest brats yet! Will definitely do again
