My medium will be 3 years old in February.  No problems, except for replacing the gasket.

  • You got me thinking so I checked my egg over today while getting ready to prep for my turkey cook and sure enough. A Crack in my large egg. 4 and 1/2 years I've had it. Guess I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow.
  • I'm at 16 years with my original large. Had the base replaced and a  couple of other bits. If you buy a used one do all your high temp cooks on the warranteed one.

I sold my last used one the other day. Smooth sailing now.

@Carolina_Q are you saying you regret getting a 2nd EGG....and why?

That's exactly what I'm saying. My large is just fine. In fact, I have yet to light both eggs at the same time. Not once in the 4 or so years I've owned two eggs. And I almost never use the mini. Back in the pre-egg days when we entertained a lot, we never owned more than one grill at a time. Ever. Neither did any of our friends. One was plenty for all of us. For me, it still is.

I should have known better, but my large was only a year old and the bloom was still on the rose. I listened to the hype. My bad.

Just think about how you cook, that's all I'm saying. Would the oven or stovetop do the job for that side dish or loaf of bread? As if it hasn't for all these ears. Why do you need/want a second egg? If you have a good answer, great. Do it.

@Carolina_Q your completely right,  I actually do have a second grill, its a gas Weber Genesis grill and ever since I got the Egg Ive only fired it up 2x,..and it was in conjuction with my Egg because I needed more grilling footage...

I will hold off, thanks for the Insight, my girl also says thank you! lol

Have Large, just replaced base, firebox and fire ring under warranty after 2 years (would have been $600 if purchased no warranty). Even though they were still functional I was concerned the base could be a fire hazard. Took the cracked items to the dump. (felt bad about this, but I don't have the storage and don't see reason to keep). I also have a small that is a craiglist purchase for 1 year no issues, I don't usually go high temps with it. All said, I would not buy a used one again or recommend to others. I like having the warranty even if my local dealer is horrible to work with.

Still cooking. I'll deal with it someday.
