I can't believe people are standing up for obviously crappy attention to detail. Yes it cooks but so does a gas grill. We pay top dollar for things to be done right and it is obvious just looking at it that things weren't done right.

@Mickey The only thing better than owning a MM is cooking on the MM. Which I do often. That being said I volunteer to procure any of these so called "defective" MM's. Because the only thing better than cooking on a MM is cooking on several MM's. B-)
PM me and I'll prepay to have your MM shipped to myself (one way ticket of course).

I will listen to you all day about your thoughts on the MM. I will also respect your thoughts. You own one!
But you and I are at full disagreement on it. To me it cooks just like it should. I like it just the way it is and find no fault in it. I am thinking maybe it was put together this way for a reason. Having owned 6 Eggs they will bust somthing  and maybe (just maybe) this very loose tolerance has a place. If not, I can live with that as long as it cooks just fine.

  • It is surprising they put the product out there like this.  My guess is that they will fix this in the future.

All that being said, I really don't see why this is such a big deal.  There's no impact on performance as far as I can tell.  If it really bothers you, return it or put it on CL.  It'll be snatched up in a second.

I agree it cooks 100% fine and I am slightly OCD.

Anybody know why they changed the old style xl dome? Was it consumer feed back? Did the old style xl cook just fine? Whatever the reason they changed it and from all accounts it seems people like the change in the xl. I'm sure the MM cooks just fine but I can see why people are slightly annoyed

Mine looks the same. I have had MM for a week now its great. I ordered a woo last night hope that will fix the grid from moving. But it cooks great and uses very little charcoal. I did start using Weekend Warrior Charcoal now.
