Swordfish Fancy Dinner
DMW
Posts: 13,833
Not sure why, but I was in the mood to have a nice dinner at a set table tonight instead hanging out around our kitchen island to eat like most weeknights.
I knew swordfish steaks were on the menu, I had started thawing them last night, just need to build the menu around them.
I saw @SmokeyPitt mention this in a prior post:
http://www.cooking.com/recipes-and-more/recipes/grilled-swordfish-with-island-salsa-recipe-2752.aspx
and decided to give it a try. I also did a spaghetti squash and my lovely wife put together a spinach salad with dried cranberries, red onions, and feta cheese.
The whole spaghetti squash went on the small indirect at 400*. I didn't get any pics of that, it's pretty boring. Leave it on until it is soft and tender to the touch. I took it off and let it rest for a bit while I pulled the woo with stone, dropped the grid on the fire ring and opened the vents. Split it open, cleaned the junk out, and forked the good stuff into a bowl. Covered with foil and went back to the egg.
And the pics begin.
On the egg:

Oh, and while my lovely bride of almost 13.5 years was out and about today, she brought home these:

I must ask, did you catch the swordfish?!? If so, that's a whole other thread discussion!!

That looks great man. How did you like the salsa? It has been years since I made this...it was a staple BE (Before Egg) on the gasser. I think because it was one of the few things that I could cook well on my gasser .Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Nice looking "fancy" (in my southern draw) cook man!At first I was thinking "sauerkraut with fish"? It helps to read sometimes.------------------------------

@SmokeyPittI really liked the flavor of the salsa. However, I have a bad mouth sore right now and didn't think about how the acidic salsa would feel. Ouch! Ran upstairs for the Anbesol. My 12 year old and 10 year old ate the swordfish with no complaints. Little guy complains about any fish except fish sticks. Boys didn't care for the salad (no surprise), 12 year old girl liked everything.Kid's palates can be challenging at times.They/Them
