Help fixing Bottom Vent Seal

What should I use to seal the top edge of the bottom vent? It doesn't prevent me from choking out the fire, but I'm sure it'd be best to seal it.

I use a lot of different silicones, and I am pretty sure this would be a super high-temp silicone. I am not sure of a model number, but I would research the C.R.Lawrence catalog, and Grainger or Mc-Master Carr. I don't know if the **** on Home Despots shelf will withstand high enough temps. Possibly even a car parts store.

Anyone else please chime in. Does BGE have a recomendation?

Remove the vent. Clean both surfaces. Apply a thick bead of Permatex High Temp Copper gasket sealant and re-install.

Brother stem, I used one made by Permatex that was clear on my large and it's still holding today. I applied it about 2 years ago. Don't quote me on this because I could be wrong but I want to say that it was Permatex 66. I will see if I can find the tube tomorrow and tell you for sure if that is correct.

@SGH‌, that seems like it might be the same stuff @caliking‌ posted in the link above. I sent an email to the BGE people asking what they use. Although I probably don't want to use what they use if it lasts less than a year.

Agreed sir. After I clicked brother likings post above and saw the tube, I'm more than sure that's it. I remembered it being 66 something so I'm sure that's it in his post. I will double check tomorrow when I'm at the shop just to be 100% sure though.

Thanks @SGH‌, sure seems a little better than @DMW‌ idea of Elmer's glue. But then again, Elmer's glue has been around for a bit.
