Wings & ABTs!

I normally do wings "raised-direct" at 400 degrees. Tonight I decided to try to cook them indirectly with some ABTs at 375 degrees.

Wings were dusted with DP Swamp Venom and corn starch. ABTs were loaded with shredded Mexican blend cheese and wrapped in Hormel Black Label bacon with a little 3 Little Pigs BBQ seasoning.

Wings were drenched in Moore's Buffalo Wing Sauce for the final 15 minutes. I don't think I'll ever to wings "raised-direct" again! These were the best wings I've EVER made!

Awesome. Thanks. I really need to do wings. I have been in a chicken breast rut for quite a while.

@rholt - you're welcome. I used to swear by "raised-direct" wings. If you do them "raised-direct" your cook time will be closer to 30 minutes. But, if you have the time, I'd recommend doing them indirect for a little longer like I did for this cook. Corn starch is a must btw.Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

50/50 of corn starch and rub?

Looks like a winner to me my friend. I have been advocating indirect wings since I joined the forum. They are much more "consistent" in my opinion. Glad to hear that they turned out to your liking. Excellent job my friend.

The greatest barrier against all wisdom, the stronghold against knowledge itself, is the single thought, in ones mind, that they already have it all figured out. -
@rholt - I'd say it was more like 90% rub and 10% corn starch. I don't like to put too much corn starch bc it makes them seem breaded to me. Personal preferences. Thanks brother @SGH! I agree that the consistency of the wings is much better cooking indirectly. I like not having to flip them!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

Thanks @Jeremiah! SWMBO told me these were the best wings I've made to date. I enjoyed making wings before, but now I can't wait to make them again!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

They look great! I usually do indirect with chicken as well. Your wings also had the benefit of bacon drippings, so next time you make wings you are required to cook something wrapped in bacon above them!Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
-
@SmokeyPitt - bacon and cheese drippings haha! I normally do chicken breasts and spatchcocked chickens raised-direct, but now I might try indirect.Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"
