WOW! I take it you have a big freezer and a lot of room in your garage for the RW. I'm looking into buying a used upright freezer.

I'm all in with the lump storage but I offer the following regarding lots of frozen food:
    a.  You can save lots of $$ on bulk purchases.
    b.  You can feel obligated to consume the above mentioned food.
    c.  The feeling can inhibit the spontaneous buys you may otherwise enjoy.

The above said, I have been in the chest freezer game for many years.  Now trying to get out of it primarily since the big carnivores (two mid 20's food inhalers (boys) have left the area).  I was okay with working within the constraints it imposed but prefer more flexibility.  Just an opinion...

I used to own a deep-freeze.  since getting rid of it, I rarely ever miss having the cold storage space.  Buying fresh instead of consuming frozen is a luxury I now feel comfortable enjoying.

Ya, the garage is bigger than the house, so no storage shortage. When deep winter sets in around here I like to have options at the house, considering its 15-20 miles to the nearest grocery store, and the more I can avoid driving the better. I have a growing kid to so the burger and crappier cuts will always go fast in tacos/stir frys and the like. It was roughly $4/lb cut wrapped and delivered from a local source so it is hard to go wrong. I, as above can't wait for some ice fishing as well. Hopefully the weather cooperates a bit more this year
