Prime rib for 15 people on XL

New to the forum, getting an XL BGE in two weeks.  Planning on using it for Christmas day dinner and making prime rib.  I will be serving around 15 people, would I be able to fit that large of a prime rib on the XL or should I do two smaller ones on racks on the XL? Any other tips?  Thanks, will be posting a lot of basic questions once I have the egg so thanks in advance for the help!

You will be fine. A 7 bone roast will fit easily. Do yourself a huge favour and cook at 250* direct. If you feel like it needa an end sear pull it off a few degrees below your desired finish temp and open the vents. Get some long tongs and throw it  back on for a few minutes. The cook timeis about 25 min8utes per pound at the thickest part. Once the length is more or less equal to the cross-section ignore the rest.

If worried then jump on the XXL-all kidding here.  Figure out how big (lengh-wise) a roast you want to cook and then check it out with your dealer XL. You are fine with your one-level real estate.  We will get to more cook info as you close in on the cook.  Great buy!
Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey!

Should not be a problem. I did an 8 pound beef tenderloin for 12 and leftovers for another 5 on my XL. I had room for more on the EGG too. Here is a photo of what I did. I took it to 135 and pulled to rest and cook veggies. I usually go with 1/2 pound per person unless you really have some hungry people.

Welcome aboard brother. As your cook grows nigh, folks will be more than glad to help. All one has to do is ask my friend. Again welcome aboard and enjoy the new egg.
