Woodford is my go-to bourbon. Really like it. I've had the single barrel and it is very good. Enjoy!Guns Up! Roll Tide!
-
Yep. It's a solid selection.
-
Hap I have never tried it. I use to by Jack Daniels single barrel by the gallon though. Usually the single barrel cuts have a more distinct taste than the parent liquor. Enjoy sir.
Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

It's damn good. A friend of mine who's been drinking bourbon for 30 years said his two go-to's are Wild Turkey 101 for inexpensive Bourbon and Woodford Reserve when he feels like treating himself. Two Large Eggs; Too Little TimeNewtown Square, PA

Woodford is great. +1 for wild turkey 101 and you can't forget Jim Beam.LGBE Marietta, GA

That's their double oaked version. If you love the flavor of the wood you'll like it. For me, it's out of balance.
When I visited the distillery a few months ago they let me try some as they were dumping the barrel. So, it was an unfiltered, barrel strength version of Woodford. That was GREAT!. Much preferred it to their commercial release (which is good stuff already). -
-
@hapster-can't wait for the review. That has to be somewhat new to the market as I have not pounded thru my Double-Oaked supply to go shopping for something else. And as you are aware-the Double Oaked is so labelled so this should have a different flavor profile. BTW-heading to LEO (Low Earth Orbit) tonight on the ignition and lift-off of Double Oaked. Not sure the duration of the flight but will arrive ready for a new launch-pad sequence sometime Sat. >-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

I prefer Ripple .... It's also good mixed with champagne. Then it's called Champipple.

Well I poured about 2 fingers neat to sample this version of Woodford...
By far; my new favorite. It's really unusual in that it's almost a sweet smokey start, very smooth, and then the warmth starts to build in the lower throat and chest... Absolutely no hot or harsh notes, it's the most mild high proof bourbon that I've tasted to date.
Stupid PA; they don't have it... Going to have to try and boot leg some from MD when I get a chance.
Very happy that I decided to try it...MSV Chill Spot

I never thought I'd see @Hapster start a "bourbon question" thread, especially when it's about Woodford.Dunedin, FL
-
I was just looking for some feedback... I have a limited variety available most of the time due to PA's stupid liquor rules.yzzi said:I never thought I'd see @Hapster start a "bourbon question" thread, especially when it's about Woodford.

I think my liquor cab will hold at least one more bottle so I guess with a little arm twisting and some convincing I will have to buy a bottle.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Its pretty complex flavor. I personally prefer their standard bottle. My neighbor prefers the doubled oaked. We do the bourbon trail every year for the last 5 years. Been to Woodford 3 times now. If hollywood made a movie about distilleries, They would do it at Woodford. If KY is close, it's worth going.

I think this is the answer to what you found. Very cool find.

Thanks... Makes sense now, the tag on the neck medallion says "Canal's Family Selection" so it's the from the batch made for Canal Liquors...mrw123 said:I think this is the answer to what you found. Very cool find.

@hapster I know I'm resurrecting an oldish thread but was wondering if you've tried Four Roses Single Barrel? My local liquor store bought their own barrel recently and they sell if for a lot less than the normal Four Roses Single Barrel. Really, really good stuff.
Fish, Hunt, Cook....anything else?

I had a glass of Blanton's Single Barrel last night, one of my favorites. Also, been really liking Angel's Envy a lot lately. Their Bourbon and Rye are pretty damn good. But, you cant go wrong with Woodford...

Pigwhistle Farms Rye is pretty tasty.MMBGE / Large BGE / XL BGE (Craigslist Find) / SF30x80 cabinet trailer - "Ol' Mortimer" / Outdoor kitchen in progress.
