My 1st Spatchcock Chicken

After reading here for a while and looking for something to cook up I went for the spatchcock chicken. I did this at 325-ish, direct, for a little over an hour. I've only had my Egg for a few months but am trying to cook it up every weekend. Man I love Egging!

  • Hello Grillnbrew,

Welcome, I had a quick question: Is your fire ring missing in this picture? Your grid looks like its very close to the lump. Most spatchcock recipes reccomend raising the grid to the felt line (or higher). Search "raised direct" for instructions.

With all that said, the chicken looks good and as long as it tasted good, thats all that really matters.

That chicken looks really good!!! For only having you egg a few months you have already cooked a fine looking chicken in a way that I haven't been brave enough to try and that's at fire ring height. I do plenty of Spatched birds but always at raised direct. Good job and welcome to the club!!!

  • Going to go raised very soon as I did wings this past weekend and had a few too dry. Thanks for the support, this is a great forum.
