Beer can hot dog grill

OK, we've all tried beer can chicken. How about beer can hot dog. A couple weeks ago I was questioned/challenged about lighting up the LBGE for a single hot dog. Last night, my son and I were thinking/drinking and decided to put something together that was less wasteful of lump. I won't take credit for the original design, as I've seen similar on the web. We just went with what we had.
First needed an empty beer can. Largest we had was a 16 oz Landshark left over from the Buffet concert.
Cut it in half, add a hinge, handle, grid and grate (Too bad they don't make Mangrates in this size)
Add some lump and a dog and you are ready to go

Looks great! I think my Maverick probes might catch on the lid during low and slows - assume that's possible. How many hours can you get on a single load of crumbs, fines - lump or whatever you call it?I was thinking you could get at least 200 cooks out of a $6 bag of RO.Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad!

Thanks for all the kind words. With 4 small pieces of lump, I cooked 2 dogs and still had plenty left. It leaks a lot of air so tough to shut her down.__________________________________________It's not a science, it's an art. And it's flawed.- Camp Hill, PA

But were you worried about any possible outgassing of chemicals from the lining on the can or from the paint on the outside when it got hot? Oh what am I saying? You ate a hot dog so obviously you don't care about chemicals. )
