@BLDGMAN ... Copy and paste 'Small Egg Weekend Getaway' and put it in the search box above. I think this is what your looking for.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

Not camping, but definitely things you could execute during a camping trip.Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Mountain man breakfast in a dutch oven. Something like this;I didn't use a top on the dutch oven, just kept the egg closed so it would cook from the top and bottom. I think I may have switched to indirect part way through to keep the bottom from burning. On the small I don't have room for a plate setter and a DO, so I just use a pizza stone and then put the DO on the stone with some spacers.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

pretty much anything you can cook at home you can cook on a camping trip on an egg. ham is always good as it gives you sandwiches the next day, same with roast beef or pastrami or chicken or turkey. leg of lamb has always been my favorite camp cook
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Leave the egg at home. Bring grid. Build fire. Cook.
Can you cook a butt like that? No, but you can cook some mighty fine grub. Nuthin' better than an open fire cook!
If you insist on lugging an egg along, you can cook anything that will fit.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

nothin better than tossing a leg of lamb in the open fire to sear and then setting it on a grate next to the fire to slow cook while the professional campers eat burgers and dogs. serve it up with rumcake for dessertCarolina Q said:Leave the egg at home. Bring grid. Build fire. Cook.

Second the MMB. Recipe is flexible and can be adjusted to tastes. A great, hearty breakfast is a staple on break down day(Sunday). I usually cook the bacon and remove, then sausage, onion, peppers, and remove. Cook the hash browns or diced taters in the grease until done, add sausage, then scrambled egg, lots of cheese, and then crumble the bacon on top. Pretty much a breakfast casserole. Nice to feed a small army with one vessel(DO).SmokeyPitt said:Mountain man breakfast in a dutch oven.
