That is a good pic. I have only seen one bear here in town.

  • While a father and son were hunting in northern Virginia, a black bear fell out of a tree, witnessed by the hunters. The father said, "Take notice of that. You'll probably never see the likes of it happening again." It happened again to them that same day. Friends of mine. Told firsthand.

Clearly you've never been in my hood. We wear sandals everywhere from fishing, hiking, chilling and yep even church.

  • My buddy who is currently hiking the entire Appalachian trail with his dad (started in March, should finish in September) sent me a video of 3 bears about 15 yards away tearing up a downed tree looking for grubs. It was a mother and two cubs. Needless to say, he was filming while slowly walking away.

    Cool pic!

Nice picture @Mickey.  For real bears you need to go to Alaska.  There always seems to be some sort of pride in how big things are there (could it be size matters?).  So typically we would refer to ground squirrels as Texas grizzlies...

You are so wrong my friend. The sandals are just fine. It's the body as the limiting factor.

We were on the Skyline Drive (106 miles in the Shenandoah National Park) and the couple of miles we walked (had to do it after reading "Walk in the Woods" ) was probably some of the best of the 2000 miles. Talked to several hikers going from 30 days to 4 months on it. Also told a movie was being made now staring Redford in GA. Had no real idea of what it looked like. This is a shot of the trail here in the park. image

I'm spoiled in that I can get to the trail in about 20 minutes. Fun to hike in Catoctin Mountain National Park.
