Tri-Tip Cook

Did my first Tri-tip last night. It was a nice steak

Rubbed it with some leftover rub I made for ribs a few weeks back and reverse seared it.
Indirect at 325 for about 45 minutes to 112˚, then went caveman to sear it.
Put it on some rolls with grilled onions and some Sweet Baby Ray's sauce.
Family loved it.

Nicely done! That sliced pic makes me want Tri Tip for breakfast! If you really want to take it up a notch season with a Santa Maria style seasoning - soooo good.L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!

@corey24 - Agree - here in Pork country, decent beef cuts are hard to find. It was the first tri-tip i had seen.It was at Walmart! Not sure where you are, but check them out. I've been going in 1x per week for a couple weeks just to see what beef they carry. I also got a 6# Brisket Flat.1 LBGE in Chapel Hill, NC

@minniemoh - I had bookmarked the Santa Maria rub, but I was in a pinch for time and went with what I had on hand. I will definitely try the Santa Maria style next time.1 LBGE in Chapel Hill, NC

Tri-tip is one of my new favorites. My local Kroger usually has them every other time i'm there. Nice budget substitute for steak night. Usually about 12 bucks for me and my wife with a little leftover compared to the $12 ribeye I usually can't pass up and eat all of by myself.
A few pieces of my most recent Santa Maria style.LBGE in Arlington, TXThanks and Gig'em -

I look every time I walk in a grocery store but no luck yet. I live in a small town. Asked someone once in a meat market and he acted like he had never heard of it.CarolinaCrazy said:@corey24 - Agree - here in Pork country, decent beef cuts are hard to find.
