I followed Dr. BBQ advice...but made the following change:

Marinate the Halibut in this mix for an hour before putting on the grill...
1/4 lb melted butter
The juice of 1 fresh squeezed lemon
2 tablespoons of Chef Paul's Magic blackening spice
1 teaspoon garlic power
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon brown habanero powder

Use a 12" skillet
Set the skillet directly on the grill
Set the grill to 500 degrees
Add another 2 tablespoons of butter and two tablespoons of oil to the skillet
When it is good and hot add the fish and cook for three minutes per side

I think it was just about the best Halibut I've ever had
