Sunday Rainy Sunday (Yard Bird Treo)

I was going to do some beef ribs today but, couldn't find any without driving 30+ minutes. I decided on wings, drumsticks and a Spatchcock. Rubbed with Mickey's Coffee Rub then several coats of bbq sauce. Wangs and drums raised direct 225℉-275℉ ran about 3hrs flipping occasionally. Spatchcock> patted dry, light coat of EVOO just enough for rub to stick (Mickey's again). Raised direct 400℉-425℉. I'll post pics later when everything is complete.

Thanks! @SGH‌ & @hapster‌ ya it has been pouring with a boat load of lightning. Wanted to flip em and had to wait a lil longer than I wanted to due to the lightning (hitting trees on our property and all around us) so a couple got sacrificed with a lil tiny burn but, no biggie.

It's been threatening to rain here all day as well. So far it hasn't but it keeps clouding up and thundering. Guess it's going just south of us.

I'm takin your idea.. got a chicken I'm about to do some work on with my kitchen sheers and rub down to do raised direct real low and smoke it for dinner tonight.

Gonna play around and make some bacon onion rings while the wife is gone at work too.

Next time I'll go with a little bit less rub on the Spatchcock for color purposes only (flavor was perfect and the skin oh so crisp). Wangs and drums were tasty.

@hapster‌ 14hrs later with a squeegee and some towels I was able to dry off the table and put on the cover before it gets heavy again. We have another slow moving system on it's way. This was my first with Mickey's on chicken (was a crowd pleaser). They didn't even notice the couple of burnt legs. I guess we're always more critical of our own stuff. I still have enough rub left for a good size butt or 2 or a few Spatchcocks. Really like the flavor.

We had enough lightning today to last a lifetime. It was hitting like every 15 seconds or so and a few took out trees on the backside of our property which is fortunately near the creek/swampy area that isn't in harms way. It's fun to watch from afar kinda like Twisters (which me and my dumb ass friends used to chase in my much more daring years). But, man that $#i+ was fun and a serious adrenalin rush! Good times :-)
