Both eggs working overtime

Fired up the large for overnight butts. Then fired up the small for some wings, then pulled the butts and cooked peach cobbler on the large. All in all, a great fathers day with my wife and two boys and some friends with their two boys.

  • I set maverick for low temp of 225 and high of 300, then dialed egg in at 260 and let her bump all night. Still was only at 178 when I left for church and had only gotten to 180 after church. I did the unthinkable and wrapped them and cranked egg to 350. They were ready in another hour. Came out wonderful. Total cook time was 15 hours.

I have the very same cast iron pan and the weber sear grate. I am impressed with both of them.

You can get it at Walmart for less than 30 dollars. That's where I bought mine.

Looks really good - any maintenance overnight with the butts?

I woke up and looked at the maverick a couple times.  I got up about 5:30 and temp was coming up to nearly 290 so I stepped out and shut the vent a little bit, Other than that, not a lot of maintenance at all.

  • I wish that somebody made a grate like that for a large.
