Air Conditioned Garage... Why Did I Wait So Long?
I air conditioned my garage tonight by installing a 5" ID x 2" thick latching garage door exhaust port in my insulated garage door and then running the exhaust vent for our old portable air conditioner out the port. The whole house including the garage is insulated with sprayed in foam so even that little 8000 BTU air conditioner is keeping my 24' x 26' garage nice and cool. What remains to be seen is if I'm going to need to upgrade to a larger BTU unit come July and August here in the land of sweat, swat and swear... LOL.

I live in the Pacific Northwet... I insulated my garage/shop so I could heat it. It's the fourteenth of June, and it's 52 degrees outside.

I envy that. I hate the heat and humidity...yet here I am in South Louisiana. Why? Because I love my Cajun wife of nearly 25 years (this August) more than I hate the heat.

Nice jerb. Makes the space usable for the 6 more months in South Louisiana, chile.
After I finished the outside and roof of my shop/garage, I bought a 24000 BTU window unit and framed it in. So the insulation, sheet rocking, ceilings, etc were done in comfort, if that could be said about doing drywall work.

How did you vent it? I've been debating it, thinking about going up through the ceiling then down to the soffit with a dryer vent. And which one did you get?Slumming it in Aiken, SC.
