Home made Honey Baked Ham

I find it hard to believe that it's as good as a true Honey Baked......but I am willing to give it a shot. Especially when you factor in the cost difference. I've been looking for a reason to test before the holidays. Thanks for posting!!!! Much appreciated and subscribed.

NOLA and SGH..You guys are awesome! I've learned a lot from you two (and many others) while lurking about. Thanks for all your contributions to the board!
And yes SGH...your method will be the one I try on the next ham.

Hey SGH, just wanted to thank you again for this recipe. I cooked it last year and believe I made a mistake by not making sure the whole ham was wet with the brine and I don't think I cooked it long enough. This year I left it completely wet and did a better job with the brown sugar coating. Set the MM to 275 and went 3 hours-verified the 135 degree temp before I pulled it. It is the read deal!!

They are different , his version of the sugar cure is (turbinado, brown, dash cinnamon , dash paprika).... that's what's sprinkled on.
the baste is apple, orange, and honey brought to boil.

@SGH This is the first year since owning eggs I didn't cure my own Leg of Pork (Ham).
Bought a spiral cut ham. I guess I'll just give it a little smoke treatment and glaze it. I'm sure it won't suck but it's not going to have the same flavor as all my others with the homemade cure. But quite frankly I just didn't feel like dicking with it this year.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -

SGH said:I hear you brother Husker. Sometimes life just gets in the way of taking the long road. That's why I like having simple recipes like this one as a backup plan. It's not everyday that we all have the time to age or cure something out. In a perfect world, time and money would not be a problem. But unfortunately for most of us, it's not a perfect world.

I watched a TV program a few years back that was showing the HBH Co. process---the actual honey glaze is applied at the stores after they receive the hams, then they take a propane torch to it in order to melt it into the finished product.Lagrange, GA LBGE

Scottie where is the best place to get your hands on the cure? Online? Any chance they might be at local specialty grocerys? This sounds amazing, and I may be doing a ham for Xmas.=======================================

And yes, most of the time you can buy small amounts from your local butcher or meat processor.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.
