I have an outdoor wood furnace for heat and domestic hot water. I heat my water year round with fire so coals are ever ready. My little brain reasoned that I should get a shovelful of hot coals to start the egg, mixed with a little lump. I use strictly hardwood in the OWF so that is no issue. The OWF is only thirty feet from the eggshed, so it is easy. That approach fits nicely with my laziness/sloth.

Hey Hen, glad to hear from you. Come inspect some time, and demonstrate how egg cooking SHOULD be done. I'm a newbie and unashamed. Only over the hill (Monteagle) and the river and through the woods to Lookout Mountain, but down in the poor section, just inside Georgia. Share an adult beverage and some lies. We're peaceable folk.
