Cast Iron Griddle in Large 14" Bayou Classic

Has anyone used this the Bayou Classic 14" round griddle in a large egg.

I have a PSWoo3 (not sure if they make them any more - but it let's me do raised with the spider at the bottom) and do ribeyes on the raised grid indirect.  Wanted to use the cast iron griddle on the spider, instead of the platesetter and then just going from the indirect cook to a sear on the cast iron.

Will I need to cut the handles off?

It will fit on mine. That being said a word of caution is warranted here. Depending on the age of your egg there has been a slight design change or that appears to be the case to me. Let me try to explain. From what I have been told I have a older model of egg that has less body taper than the newer ones. As such I can use a true 15 1/2 inch grid on my spider. Most newer eggs that I have looked at can not. They are limited to around 14 inches to allow for adequate metal expansion without rubbing the ceramic wall in the egg. Just another point of interest the CGS and other after market vendors recommend using the grid from a small egg on the spider in the large egg. By my measurements the small grid is 13 1/2 inches give or take a little. I believe this is due to the design change of which I'm speaking. All that being said just look at it closely and be sure you have plenty of clearance for metal expansion so you don't damage your egg. I hope this helps my friend.
