Sliders on the Flat Top (Baking Steel)
@RRP and @Griffin inspired me. Ron posted a thread about sliders and Griffin was talking about today being National Hamburger Day. Who decides these special days anyway? Wilma calls me at work and says she's at the store and wants to know what I thought about supper. How about sliders? Wilma made the patties with Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper & garlic powder. The pics tell the rest of the story.

Topped with tomato, and grilled onions & mushrooms. Asparagus on the side completed the meal. Everything was delish!

Nothing beats a nice griddled burger. I'll take the combo that includes 4 sliders please.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I have never had a slider. I have never SEEN a slider. Hell, I never even HEARD of a slider until I started hanging out on these forums!! Even now that I know what they are, I still don't understand the point. Why not just make a damn burger?Yours look tasty... but so would a real cheeseburger. And I LOVE asparagus!!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Maybe it's the higher bun to burger ratio? I don't know. Why are fun sized candy bars sold year round instead of just at Halloween? Because they're fun!Flint, Michigan

Have not used the Baking Steel as a griddle yet...any issue with flareup due to grease running off the side?

Those look great!@Carolina_Q, one of the reasons that we occasionally do sliders is to top/dress each one a little differently.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

Also the crust/meat ration is different in a slider than a burger. Also,it's easy to make them different thickness if people want and (as mentioned) dress them differently.

Love the treatment with the french fries. Bet it took hours to carve each one. )Skiddymarker said:henapple said:What's that green crap?Looks great!

This may be a stupid question, but do you cook them with the lid open or just open when you flip them?Mike
I'm ashamed what I did for a Klondike Bar!!

Fred, I love that your GPS data says that you made these sliders at the Null Bazaar. How's Mumbai?

Mike - I cooked them with the dome closed, but each side cooked for only 3 minutes or so.Flint, Michigan

Is your Baking Steel rusted?
-
Nah. It's too greasy! If it was used more, it would be seasoned like cast iron. I'm hoping to do just that and we're going to start with a breakfast this weekend.HDmstng said:Is your Baking Steel rusted?

Sliders in Michigan were always White Castles to me growing up. Then copy cat recipes started popping up etc and the name became more universal to just little greasy bundles of joy LOLDearborn MI

Ahhh yes! Small square patties with five 5/16th inch holes drilled in them. Steamed over a bed of grilled onions. I know them well. I thought about steaming them over a bed of grilled onions, but decided the 5/16th holes might be a cooking consideration and not just a cost cutter.KenfromMI said:Sliders in Michigan were always White charles to me growing up.
