uggg a hundred bucks... I think I can manage with pretty much anything else at a much lower cost. Seems like a great idea thoughLarge BGEBBQ Guru DigiQ IIMartensville, Saskatchewan Canada

On the plus side is the cordless portability,. On the negative side, it uses butane, and needs to be charged. I'm sticking with the MAP gas weed burner for less than half the cost, and being totally self contained. http://www.amazon.com/Bernzomatic-19425-Self-Igniting-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B00008ZA0F/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399914192&sr=8-1&keywords=bernzomatic+weed+torch
You be the judge...

Heats guns, torches - all generate sparks. I live with that, however.

That is one of the big selling points of the weed torch - you get to keep all your important pieces far away from the sparks. With heat guns, Looftlighters, and this new butane torch, your hands and face are right there. The sparks are gonna happen if you operate with one of these lighters. Each person needs to evaluate the risk based on location, building materials, etc. If you have a safe environment for using any of the accelerated lighting technologies (retro-turboencabulator excepted), in my experience with several of these devices, the weed torch is the way to go. I own a Looftlighter and heat gun, and have a standard MAP torch in addition to the Weed torch. I ran out of MAP the other day, and instead of using one of the other lighting tools, I dug out a bottle of propane from my camping supplies, and stuck it on the weed torch.nolaegghead said:Heats guns, torches - all generate sparks. I got a kick out of these instructions for lighting a wood fire...
Tips for lighting wood fires:
Prepare your wood pile as you would normally, using a couple sheets of newspaper at the base (an entire newspaper is no longer necessary). It can be easier to get started with your wood stacked vertically so that the logs don’t smother your fire.
Ignite the newspaper with the flame for 5 seconds...
So, ahhh...I could have just used a match, right? LOL ...yes, they say to keep fanning the fire with the blower but you know how it is- If you have the fire setup and already have newspaper under it, one match usually does it very quickly! Or buy a $100 lighter instead. Your call.

Like the Idea of fire/flashlight/bottle opener in one. But the child safety lock might be a problem.LOL
