@L_S-my greatest recollection of Niagara Falls was the fall of 1969 (yup a while ago:)) when the American side was diverted to the GWN side, Horseshoe was impressive.  But seeing no flow on the south side was quite a deal.  No pics-but you can find it somewhere and I was not under the influence when I saw it.  Early stages of a road-trip!

@L_S-I do believe that this winter may be close to a record for total Great Lakes ice-over.  Don't know about your connection to the friggin Ground Hog (Feb 2 is his day south of the border) but he sure screwed us well this year!
