Back in the day the thermos that bge was putting on were pretty lame. Many of us switched to Tel-Tru, which now come on theBGE. They don't go out nearly as much. I never calibrate mine because I think you mess up the reading more by twisting them out.

Comfort zone is good but calibration removes the doubt-I'm a big believer in checking the calibration before every low&slow.  That said, I find the tel-tru to very stable- @L_S- it's always within 5-10*F doing the boiling water check.  I have contemplated doing a full range check but have not put enough effort into finding a facility to get that done.  Happy with where I am so I doubt I will push any further.  Believe your indications unless proven otherwise-It's all you've got!
