At $0.58 per pound (or a $1.28 per Kilo for us metric challenged Canucks) including the smoke wood that is a great score.

I generally drive through Arkansas every other summer, right through Benton, to visit a buddy from my dental school days.  I may need to invest in some sort of luggage carrier for the top of the minivan this year

You can get that price at any Harps, although Benton seems to carry the biggest stockpile. They are in Arkansas, eastern Oklahoma, and southern Missouri.

Let's see.  .58 cents per pound vs $1.10 per pound online.  52 cents a pound saving.  1400 miles from CT to Benton, AR each way.  18 miles per gallon in the pick up truck.  About 155 gallons of gas needed. At $3.50 per gallon, that's $542.  About a 1000 pounds should be a wash.   1/2 ton truck.  Oh well! Online it remains. Good deal @henapple !

Ozark Oak is my favorite lump. I'm planning on riding my Goldwing to Arkansas this summer pulling my trailer. I think I can get about 40 bags on it. At 40 MPG it would take about $100 in fuel and $75 for motel, That would add about 44 cents to the pound. Total of 1.02 per pound is still cheaper than online. Also I think it is cheaper to get it at the manufacturer in Yellville Arkansas.

The last time I checked they were not selling from the factory or taking new customers. I'm wanting to head up there and get about 150 bags.

I called them last October and they told me the same thing because they were behind on orders. A friend of mine was there early last summer and they were selling to public then. Hopefully they get caught up this winter and spring. If not then I will hit every Harps I can find.
