Egg cost

I paid $1430 some including tax for my large setup. It came with PS, nest, handler, ash tool, grid lifter, 20lb bag of BGE lump, wooden Eggmates, BGE pepper and garlic rub, big bob Gibson bbq, and firecubes. I seen here some people paid $800 for the egg, is that just the egg or did I get screwed?

Every year around Christmas my dealer runs a "special" on the large. For $850.00 you get large egg, nest, mates (side shelves), and a bag of lump.

shtgunal3, what dealer do you use? I have a co-worker that is in the market for an egg, especially after I keep bringing him samples of Egged goodness. He lives in Hartselle so it's not too much of a drive if the price is right.

tjosborne I got most everything you got, less the wooden Eggmates, BGE pepper and garlic rub, big bob Gibson bbq, at an Eggfest where my Egg was used as a "demo" and paid $875 (less tax). And it was assembled. Largely, I think Fests are only way I think the distributors are allowed to offer any kind of discounts.

I don't think you got 'screwed'.  That's around what I paid (Cdn) 3-4 years ago for my large.

90% of everyone paid what you did. The others got special deals based on a demo model or used. Used will not carry a warranty which is important. Dealers are required to sell at list with only a few exceptions.

This is the price March 15 at the Salado EggFest. Demo used for 5 or 6 hours. With only 70 days until Salado, here's the latest news. Yep a Mini & Nest $299 Russ at Keith Ace Hardware (Salado Eggfest Sponsor) came through with some great discounts on Demo Eggs in spite of an increase in prices from Big Green Egg. Here it is for the 2014 Salado Eggfest: Large BGE Large Nest Platesetter Lump Firestarters $759+ tax Mini BGE (Not a Demo) Mini Nest $299+ tax I'm not doing any other sizes but if someone wants another size from my regular stock I'll discount it 10%.

@teedoff the place is Werner's Trading Company in Cullman. Give them a call and ask for Rob. He is the owner. They are a few miles off exit 308. Let me know if I can help.

$1400 looks like Canadian pricing, NE is Nebraska isn't it?

Price is going to vary by location and even more importantly the number of dealers in an area.  I shopped around and got the large Egg only in the box (no nest, I assembled) and the plate setter for $705 plus tax.  They threw in a 10-lb. bag of BGE lump.  I built my own table.

I'd guess that with tax that's probably about right. 4 years ago my large with a very similar package was almost 1100 with tax.

You got screwed. Last year, I paid $833 OTD for a new LBGE, nest, PS, ash tool, starters, and a big bag of lump.

If you didn't get screwed because, well, that's just the price of eggs these days, you got screwed because that's the price of eggs these days. $1400+ for a large is ridiculous.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Just under 1K egg, nest, p.s., grate lifter tool (the spring loaded one), 20# BGE lump, cook book and delivery/set-up. I would guess the closer you are to GA mfg facility the lower the price simply due to shipping etc

I've been looking to add a Medium to join the multiple egg club.  Out here in governor moonbeam country the going price is pushing $1000 for just the MBGE (699) and Nest (169) + tax and license.  It is a little too much for me to justify.  Maybe if I win the lottery.  A boy can always dream....

@tksmoke - tax AND license?  At the risk of looking more dumb than usual, what is the license for?

Sorry - the license part was meant as a joke.  Although here in the people's republic of California it isn't very funny.  I was just visiting a friend who is building an addition to his house.  It is now impossible to get a building permit to install a wood burning fireplace.  Go figure...
