Deal of a lifetime!!!

Here I am browsing at my local Lowe's store and I happened to take a stroll through their barbecue aisle. Low and behold a price tag caught my eye. These bags were marked $3.99 each for 20lbers!
I had to read the sticker to make sure that it was in the right place and sure enough it was!
So needless to say I cleaned them out for 17 bags! As the cashier called for price override the dept manager started to give me grief about how they were priced wrong. I pretty much told him it's not my problem that they were priced wrong and that I'm a paying customer and I'm ready to pay for my merchandise at the price it was listed for.
Needless to say that after a short commotion the store manager showed up and as you can tell he was not happy that someone has screwed up.
But he also realized that he had no choice other than to sell me the lump at the price it was marked for.
Happy Customer here!!!
And by the way I got another 5% off my total for using my Lowes card LMMFAO!!
XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.

The 20 pounders here in Melbouring are usually $13.99, but during Labor Day and sometimes Memorial day they are on sale for $9.99 and with a 10% military discount $9.00/bag. Not bad!!

Ok, so if you guys saw a good deal and it was priced wrong you would bring it to the attention of the manager and then you would pay full price?? Yea right!! Not my fault someone screwed up. And I will enjoy my lump.XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.

I see both sides of this but tend to agree more with the above.
Not judging the OP.

There have been many many discussions on this forum about which Lump is the best which is the worst blah blah blah. I've been buying cowboy lump for about 10 months now and never had any issues with it. I can cook with it for 14 hours overnight with no issues or I can sear a steak at 700°XL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.

I have to agree cowboy is better than royal oak.

I also bought several bags of Rockwood and it was good but not all I have seen it hyped up to be. Many small pieces IMO.

It seems like half of the BGE lump it tiny pieces and dust…well don't forget the rock or two.Nowhere Indiana

Great deal.....Cowboy ain't the best, but it does the job and at $.20 a lb. is a bargain.

I would've argued for the deal too. My job as a consumer is to buy things at the price marked. Their job is to mark it correctly.Mark Annville, PA

Not sure why some folks are raining on the OP's parade. If they fired someone every time something was mislabeled, they wouldn't have much of a workforce left. Its not like lowes has six sigma certification. The dept manager is culpable too, and should be fired as well?Cowboy seems to have been reborn. I've heard the new version is much better than what it used to be. I think Naked Whiz even did a new review for it.OP was in the right place, at the right time... with his wallet.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

OP, nice find. I seem to recall others finding similarly fantastic deals at Home Depot as they were clearing out the Cowboy for Royal Oak, so not totally unimaginable to find this deal at the blue box.LBGE - St. Louis, MO; MM & LBGE - around 8100' somewhere in the CO Front Range

Got to be the wet blanket here. I wouldn't take Cowboy for free.

Good job OP.
Though I never bought cowboy, getting Rockwood shipped isn't all that great either. FedEx can really beat up a package. I can take what I got and put it side by side next to RO and no one would be able to tell the difference.

You got a poorly shipped quantity. I've had one bag of smallish pieces but everything else is up to the forum snuff.Lit said:I also bought several bags of Rockwood and it was good but not all I have seen it hyped up to be. Many small pieces IMO.

@eggcelsior I got it from firecraft and they were packaged very well when I got them no damage at all to the boxes. Hopefully it was just shipping but I haven't seen any dust or anything just alot of small pieces. I don't think I have had even one fist size piece yet. The good thing is this thread made me remember the store down the road has natures own maple lump for $17 a 20 pound bag and I need to get more lump. They also sell the stainless rain cap so I may have to get one of those as well.
-
I have gone through 6 bags of RW and had one that had some smalls but it wasn't enough to make me think about it. I did buy them from a Dealer so no freight issues but I will prolly try Firecraft next time around because these were picked up 2hrs from home on work and I might be traveling that way much.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Lowes cowboy lump-- or GFS royal oak? I'm down to one bag. And these are my options. Was supposed to get in on a rockwood group buy, but it never worked out. What do you think?Cleveland, Ohio
