He's back.......

Last year was a year of firsts. MDSH decided to cook his very first turkey and do it on the egg. Well, he's back in the kitchen again this year fixing the turkey and cooking on the egg. He hasn't been in the kitchen or near the egg since last year. I asked him if I could take pictures and his reply was "hell NO"! No humor. Trust me, he is in the kitchen and I'm thankful the maid will be here on Tuesday. Over 40 years of marriage and he still surprises me! ;;)

When it's a "hell no" you don't mess around and he turns into a HWMBO! I thought about trying to sneak a picture but his hearing is still good.

Put the phone on silent and turn off any flash... you can shoot away with him not being any wiser

No, it's my egg that I had to have. I do all the cooking. After 45 years he's decided to do turkeys. Go figure.

My dad did something similar with smoked turkey breast on his Weber as he only started doing it when he was in his 70's.  At this point we all expect it any time we have the whole family get together at my parents' house.  He's 89 now and I'm having him teach his technique to me, my brother-in-law, and all 4 grandchildren.  Lesson #1 was last Christmas.  This Christmas we will get a refresher course.

He had the Sonos a little louder this morning and I snapped it. Here he is in the wo-man cave. @Foghorn, this is more to honor his very dear friend we lost last year. They were childhood friends. MDSH was from Hominy Ok and his friend was from Pawhuska Ok. Both went to OSU, Sigma Chi fraternity, Air Force, Florida and then 2 miles from one another. Our children grew up together. One turkey is for the son and the other for the daughter.

One turkey down and second is on the egg and MDSH asked me if I would clean up while he floated in the hot tub.  I'm getting the skillet.  >:P
