Suckling Pig

Okay I have seen the posts and I have a line on a suckling pig. Based on what I had read, I asked him for a 10-15lb pig. He informed me that there wasn't a lot to a 10-15 lb pig. So my question is what size pig should I be searching for and is that on the hoof or processed?? I have an XL and would like to have the right size pig.  Thanks in advance for your help!!

    biggest ive seen posted was a 62 pounder done in a large but no way would i attempt that
    :)) maybe a 25 to 30 pounder, what he did was to cut the lower back and flip the rear legs up tied to the head, almost folded, dont know how he set up for a drip pan with all the grease, i would assume it was somehow directed down thru the lower vent, those that actually saw the cook said the smoke was extreme

  • weredaone take a tape measure and measure the inside diameter of you Egg I think that on the XL it is 24 inches so that being said tell the farmer that the pig can't be any longer then say 23 inches long end to end what ever the pig weighs so be it as long as the pig is no longer then 23 inches so it fits in your Egg weight is not the issue here

  •  Charles I watched and read your post as it happened. That is what has given me the courage to try this one!! I will be measuring the Egg, taking a couple of inches off and going from there!! Can't wait to try it!!
  • weredaone the inside diameter on my LBGE is 18 inches so my Pig was 17 inches and it fit like a glove as I said I think the ID of a XL is 24 inches so get a pig thats 23 inches and have fun and make sure to post photos so we can all enjoy the cook good luck and if you have any questions feel free to ask
