OT: Solved - Weber grill light 7516 mod for LBGE wide handle

This one's for you @RAC.
This started with a previous thread : http://eggheadforum.com/discussion/1158251/ot-which-weber-grill-light-works-with-the-new-lbge-handle#latest
Buy this - Weber 7516 Grill Out Grill Handle Light. Available on Amazon for about $25. This is the one commonly available at HD and Lowes for the same price.
Two handle brackets come in the box. You want the B1 and B2 handle bracket pieces.
First cut the B2 piece. I cut vertically down at the notch on the left side of the image, to waste the curvy part of the bracket.
You will be left with a vertical piece that has the slots for the clasps on the other part of the bracket to snap in to.
Now take the B1 part of the handle bracket and remove the 2 foam rectangle pieces. Grind out the ridges underneath the foam pads. I used a Dremel tool.
Install 3 AAA batteries in the light and screw B2 to the light (black screw in the box). Install the handle by engaging the 2 rear clips of the bracket around the handle first, then the single wider clip in the front.
Its a hair too snug and so there is a little tension on the clips. I may have to grind a bit of the edges of the top bracket to get a better fit. Two zip ties around the light would also work well.
The light is pretty bright and casts light somewhat towards the hind side of the grid, but its plenty of light to work with. Works for me at least. YMMV.

I like the bottle caps in the dispenser on your table. Nice.Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html

Its very handy. I got tired of running after bottle caps that fell on the ground. It holds a lot of caps too. Also from Amazon.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

I just ought this one yesterday. http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?cat=1,43349&p=71189 It is fantastic, really, really bright! I have the shelves on my egg and I tested it to see if the magnet is strong enough to work through the shelf. It is so I am going to glue the metal disc to the bottom of the shelf. It is so bright that it even makes the egg light up at high noon with the sun out!In the bush just East of Cambridge,Ontario

@GlennM - thanks for that link. Can you let us know how it works for you after using it? I didn't like the gooseneck type lights I've used in the past, but that may just be because they were not good qauality products. @nolaegghead also had a neat setup using a mic stand and an LED flashlight.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

It's the bomb! Excellent goosenck and super bright, think sunglasses at midnight! You can focus the beam to a larger diameter than the egg. I tested the steel disc under the shelf and the magnet is plenty strong with it there. I'm going to glue the disc under the shelf ( no holes). In the bush just East of Cambridge,Ontario

Thanks, @caliking. I know this is an old thread. but I just got one of these (weber 7516) for a gift from my son. It doesn't fit my LBGE or my weber gasser. I was about to give up until I found this thread. I followed these steps and got very close to fixing my problem. I still had to carve away a little handle, but I ultimately made it fit. Now I have a great light on my handle.
