I utilized 3 concrete pavers spread out horizontally with the ceramic feet on them to mount my large in my wood table.
No heat problems that way!

+1 on the stone. I have a paver stone and ceramic feet, and after a high temp sear I felt bottom of stone from underneath (I notched bottom boards so stone just sits on cross members, and I was very surprised at high heat level on bottom of the paver stone. On my new table, to be overly cautious, I changed dimensions so I had room for paver stone with layer of fire brick on top Here are pics of most recent table showing that:

Charles, thanks. I still need to add a little larger spacer under the two marble boards to bump them up a little bit higher, that way hot stuff (grates, adjustable rig, skillet etc) can hang over the edges without burning the table top wood. Always something to do in eggland.

I dont have that problem I have a granite counter outdoor kitchen that my Eggtable sits next to so anything hot goes right on the granite but when I have a few extra dollars im planining on having a granite top made for my Eggtable and use the cut out for the Egg to put under the Egg and then for sure I won't have any trouble with heat2 Large Eggs and a Mini 2 Pit Bulls and a Pork shoulder or butt nearby and 100% SICILIANLong Island N.Y.
