Dan4BBQ said:We have had some great dogs over the years. 2 minature schnausers when the kids were small.English Springer that passed at 12 about 4 years ago. Our yellow lab passed 1 month ago at 12. Our lab Cookie always love egging. We have an English Springer pup to be born in 2 weeks. My wife thinks that we need two pups.We have always gotten a pup when our dog got to be 6 or 8 years old--always loved it.Any thoughts about getting two pups?Sorry I didn't see this till now. I sure hope you went ahead and got two. Our latest two Springers are cousins, a month apart, named Major & Minnie. Our previous two were brother and sister, andlike Maj & Min, were fixed at a very early age. We will always strive to have two at one time. They absolutely are the best of friends and "feed off each other", so to speak.Let me know how y'all made out!

2-3 yo German Shepard Rescue. Physically and emotional neglected like you couldn't imagine. Blew his ACL within a month of getting him. Weighed 67 pounds when we got him, could count every rib on him. Up to weight at 83 pounds now. Nothing left of the dog we got a year ago.

Twotimer died around 10:00 p.m. today in her sleep. Up until Saturday she was still as peppy as you can expect an 18 year old dog to be but Saturday she showed lack of interest in everything, Sunday her mobility became impaired and I had to carry her to put her to bed, this morning I stayed home from work and since she seemed comfortable we decided that we would let nature take it's course rather than take her for one last visit to the vet. She slept most of the day and died in her sleep tonight.Gerhard

@gerhardk, I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope you take solace in the fact that she passed at home with her family.

@gerhardk, so so sorry for you and yours. Nothing can be said to make it hurt less, but I'm glad she got to pass at home and you were able to be with her.

Thanks to everyone for the condolences, sorry for posting such a downer message on here. It was too late to phone friends and just needed to get it off my chest.ThanksGerhard

Jackson is a Chocolate Lab and Winston is a mini Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Surprisingly (or not) the Corgi loves egging more than the lab... but they equally love what comes off of the egg.

In turn, she gave you uncountable gifts throughout your lives. You may not see it now through the cloud of grief, but the way she left was her last parting gift to you.Gerhard
