Saturday we're going to visit my Mom who's been gone for a month. Sunday I'm cooking appetizers to choose which I'll cook for my first ever public cook (not family, friends or church family) next weekend. I need one more and I found out yesterday that the health dept is pretty much requiring "on-site" prep. There goes my pulled pork! So far I got pig candy and Nutella tortilla pizza with strawberries & mini marshmallows.Flint, Michigan

Hap, I did a traditional Viennese meal last night that was amazing. Was trying to think outside the box. Wasn't on egg but will post pics later. Schnitzel, potato salad and cucumber salad. Look forward to seeing what you come up withhapster said:Thanks guys...

Well Hapster, it's been a long time!! Great to see you are still cooking away. I started a big 15 lb butt last night for the workers that will be at my house later. We are removing an old cracked and fallen patio and installing a 17x40 raised stamped concrete patio. This weekend is excavation, set up forms and spread 18 tons of rock! My DH got me a CyberQ for christmas and I am already having issues with it. Easier to just stay up drinking and watch the temps.

Something you can cook in CI! Looking forward to your entry in the throwdown;)Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I picked up a cheap chuck roast the other day and just threw it in the cast iron with some beef broth. Was feeling really lazy. Damn it turned out good. Nice and easy if you just aren't feeling it for something more challenging.

Heading to Costco to get a round of usuals: chucks, pork loin, pork tenderloin, pork shoulders, ribs, chicken. Get 'em home, splay 'em out, start packin' them into the freezer and see who 'stays out' for today's cook (and tomorrow, we're getting socked in here by tropical systems all weekend). MIGHT even cruise through their liquor store to see what looks good, too! Cheers!

Thanks everyone...
Back from the store... here's the line up in basic order, not sure of the timing, but I kind of want to get the egg fired up and running awhile
fire roasting peppers, corn, tomatoes, onions for a salsa sorta dish
doing chicken breast to go with the fire roasted salsa deal, left overs into chicken salad.
Likely to grill some white peaches to go along to with some Pineapple Head Yum
Making a mango, cucumber and mint salad for when ever...
Then later today / tonight, a 7lb butt along with a cute little just over 4lb flat. first time for me, I'm going to do them both at the same time. I am thinking the flat could be done fairly quickly for brisket, almost a turbo
Past that, not sure...
Have to stop by the cigar shop and liquor store in a little bit and get some ice...
Tigers game at 4 so hopefully the rain holds off...
Pics to follow at some point.
@LizzieSamps nice to see you back as well

Enjoy the meal. But I sure hope my Tribe can get something going before your Tigers find that next gear. Cabrera and Fielder are very formidable.

Tigers won!!!
And here are a few pics of my continuing cook... Added some lump and hit it with the looft to speed things along.
The maverick meat probe is in the flat on the top rack. Went with oak for smoke. 4lb flat with just kosher salt, pepper, and onion powder. 7lb butt with olive oil, Swamp Venom, and some Tasty Licks Black Bart's brisket rub. I know, go figure...
Currently the IT is 144, the grid temp is 255. Smells amazing. Good thing I reached the mother ship, noticed some drips from the crack area... Have the maverick set for 195IT.

11:22 update
Looking for input on this one..
The brisket IT is at 170 and the grid is at 241. Since its such a small flat, 4lbs precooked, would there be no stall?
Luckily, there's an unopened bottle of Woodford ready to step up if needed.
Thinking about waiting the briskie out and then moving the probe to the butt and getting some sleep.
Thoughts?
Appreciate it...MSV Chill Spot
