Hello everyone! My name is Jim, and I have an addiction..... To spatch chicken!
I hope these pics work!
I found a brand new small on craigslist for a great deal and jumped on it about a month ago, started cooking on it and realized I needed more room, so after days on craigslist, found the deal of the year, an old large for 300 bucks with an old homemade table.
Smoked some bologna the first day I picked it up!
Thinking of a double table with the heavy duty shelves from lowes as the framework.... Still dreaming that up, but thanks for all of the pics from your cooks and ideas for new things to try! Now to find the time do do some smoking!

Thanks! Does anyone know when they stopped making the ceramic fire grates? Its about an inch thick. The large has that and the hinge is not the spring assisted.

Welcome! Great deal on the eggs. I'm not exactly sure when they stopped making the ceramic fire grate...but I'm thinking it is 5-7 years ago. It looks like it is in great shape though- the gasket looks brand new in the 'loney pic.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Lmao! Zz top for sure! Cen-tex just throw your razor away! It'll grow! Mine has been going for almost a year. And the craigslist lottery win, he wanted a side by side propane charcoal so he could put a rotisserie on it. I almost showed him a spatch cook from my small egg..... I almost feel sorry for him, if he had been on this forum he would have never parted with the large egg.

It was 15 or sixteen years ago. My first egg had the lever lock and the ceramic grate. I liked the lever lock myself until somebody thought they would be nice and close it for me without releasing the lock.Covertegger said:Thanks!
