Ok back to Cartens and something you should think about. If I had both Minis, both would be in Cartens. Started to get one a year ago in Salado but got around to it this year (March 16th) and my Mini has not and will not be out of it.

Only one problem I can see. That is some heat transfew from the bottom of Egg to the bottom of Carten. For the most part mine sits on a SS table with a towell under it to protect the SS table from scratches from moving the Carten around. Found the heat and went online for two things: first somthing to catch the heat and second to cushion setting it down. Found this materal that stated 500 protection level (not sure what it protected aggenst) so ordered a 1/4 inch for about $28. The first pic was after a 20 min 400 cook. So orderd a 1/2 peace for about $48 to put under it. When/if it burns into the second peace I will pull all of the orange stuff. But (IMO) something is needed to cut the heat (not that it is all that hot) I think cutting would be good.

Well that stinks. I was looking at that silicone mat for the bottom. I'll post a picture of what I'm thinking. A guy on here has a home made one that is circular.

If I'm following correctly...MCN would like a custom fab'ed egg carten that is round instead of square so that he can just drop it inside the hole in his wood table.

That's a cool idea- when it's time to go mobile then you just grab it and go!

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Ya know how the egg Carten is square, if the bottom was a circle, and the supports curved around the egg so I could just make my table hole a little bigger and the egg, in the egg Carten could just go in and out of the table. An the handles not be that big as to clutter up the table top.

...another thought...why not just cut a square hole in the table to fit the cart-en?

Just round would be more aesthetically pleasing. And also, a tighter, slightly smaller Carten will fit better in the backseat of the airplane. It will need a few beener holes to hook tie downs in.

10-4...makes sense. I really like the idea of having something that fits in the table.

Had to read that last part a couple of times. Oh..carabiner holes! ;)

Nice man! Do you have something under the Cart-en or does the top of the table just support it?

Nothing under it the carten supports it fine. I will check to see if I have any other pictures but I got rid of the table when I modified my nest for 8" casters. Next will be to make a rolling nest for the mini.
