I have read a lot about meat loaf and there looks like a few different ways. I need to be able to cook in 1.5 or 2 hrs max. I do not have a raised grid. I have a cast iron and the stainless. I have read both direct and indirect methods. Anyone got an idea for a under 2 hr way without a raised setup. Thanks for the help

    Here you go.

    Meat Loaf

    Ingredients:

    1 lb. Ground Beef

    1/2 lb. Ground Pork

    1/2 tsp. Dry Mustard

    1/4 tsp. Ground Black Pepper

    1 Cup Italian Bread Crumbs

    1/4 tsp. Sage

    2/3 Cup Milk

    1 Garlic Clove Crushed

    1 Egg

3/4 tsp. Dizzy Pig Cow Lick

    1/4 Cup Chopped Onion

    1 Tbs. Worcestershire Sauce

    1 1/2 tsp. Salt

Ketchup & Heinz 57 For Brushing

    Directions:

    1.  Preheat Cooker to 350*F with indirect setup (platesetter)

    2.  Add 3-4 Chunks of Cherry Wood

    3.  Mix all ingredients together in a bowl

    4.  Brush top of loaf with mixture of ketchup and Heinz 57 and sprinkle with more steak rub.

    5.  When cooker is stable at 350* place meatloaf in and cook for 1.5 hours on the grate above a drip pan until done (internal meat temp 150-155*)

    6.  When meatloaf is done remove and rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

You should have no problem doing meatloaf indirect in less than two hours, here is my first attempt @ meat loaf from a while back.  It really turns out well, good luck.

  • Thanks a lot. I got them on about 20 min ago. When I ask the ? I already had some veggies sautéing, I mixed them in as well. Other than that, i followed your directions. I will post pics when they are done. Thank you
