Temperature logger - any recommendations?

I'm going to go full-out geek and do a little research. Want a logger that works with an external probe and uploads the data to a PC (or in my case a Mac) so I can graph and do some statistical analysis. And not break the bank. Anyone have any experience with these?

I guess there's no way to do that with our Guru huh?

Take a look at my post some time ago. I have Excel go to my Stokers IP and get all data every 2 minutes.

Cool! Now I really regret not buying the wifi model....
Anyway, I can use the data logger for monitoring the temp trends in my shop, my kegerator and I've been thinking about brewing pilsner, which is something you need to refrigerate down here in the south.

Wow, maybe if I get my hubby to program something he would get into egging too! Maybe want his own egg for the research required! Oh YES, I may have just figured out how to get another one! It would be so handy for veggies, sides, and such!

I'm planning on doing research, not use it to cook.

I want to see if I can see trends like when it plateaus, how long the plateau lasts and if there is a second plateau. Select or choice grade meat. Over time I will know if the grade of meat matters. Just to do it a certain way just because may work but I want to know doing this or that is making a difference. Maybe none of it will show a trend but if I don't record it, I will never know.

Nola, I have a 2-channel and a 4-channel thermocouple datalogger. They are out in the garage. They have a serial port on them so you can get a serial to usb adapter to then upload the data. I think the 2 channel was around $250 and the 4-channel was around $380? Email me if this sounds interesting to you.

The iGrill records temps and can send a PDF of thr graph, or a csv which can be loaded into a spread sheet.Simi Valley, California

Always been surprised choice of probe isn't more controversial around here"I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I use the free Stoker Log software on my PC. Just start the Stoker on the egg and start the program on the PC and it creates a graph for you reading all the probes and even when the fan is running. You can add you own notes to the graph too. It won't give you table values for statistical analysis.Aledo, Texas
