We have been away for a while and the service in the Tetons was hit or miss so I waited until we got back to flat country. I was sorry to read that Tweev left the forum. If Tweev comes back for a little look see I just wanted to say thank you for your help and I did learn a lot from you. I am now cooking my way because that is what has worked for me ALL these years. I'm not afraid to try something different on the egg because there are no rules just what works for me.

Has anyone ever meet Tweev?

I bet someone has met Tweeve. Seems like a good enough feller to me.

Totally agree with the "no rules" philosophy and trying new things. There are many roads to travel.
    Cheers Granny!

To paraphrase what a wise man once said:

i've been told that i drove some folks away recently.

i won't answer that. but i'll say that the day before Tweev left, he and i did have a PRIVATE conversation.  i blew up at him, he blew back. but from how it ended (maturely), he was clear that he did not leave for that reason.

he and i always butted heads, though we shared damn near the same thinking on a lot of stuff. i honestly liked him, but i did not like him screwing with me (nor he when i screwed back).  we got involved in a little one-ups-manship.  juvenile, admittedly. not talking about debates regarding cooking on a grill. other stuff off-line that most weren't aware of.  i'm not going to share it because he and i cleaned it up and are past it.

and in retrospect, i think if he were someone i REALLY needed to worry about (and there were times i was worried), he would not have had any qualms making it all public. but he didn;'t, and neither did i. sorry for the crypto BS, but to explain it would make it public, and he and i never did.  not going to pull his pants down just because he's gone and i have the floor. suffice to say he made me nervous about stuff, and i hit back twice as hard. mutually assured destruction and all that.  then he'd hit back, etc.

most people had no idea, because for some reason we managed to keep it on the QT, and actually dealt with stuff off forum.

why am i telling you this? well, because speculation only confirms what people want to think.  and i'm not sure what they think is correct, because i was talking with him the night before. i can tell you that his decision to leave the next day was not a result of being 'driven' away (by anyone, including me, despite those who profess to know).  he wrote a few separate notes to me via PM the night before.  i over reacted. he reacted to my over-reaction by over-reacting.  then he replied with saner thoughts, and ultimately he replied saying he thought it was time to go. and not because of our discussion, but because what he seemed to think was the poor fit in general.

he then cc'd me on his request to the mods to tank his account.
i replied saying i didn't think he needed to (and that it certainly was not his style to make a goodbye post) but it sounded to me like he was sincere, believe it or not.  sounded like he was not enjoying it anymore

he made a post about leaving, and i can tell you that what he wrote in it was basically what he told me.  he was not "run out", and as far as i could tell, even our private 'discussion' the night before didn't play into it. in fact he stated his decision was a result of something that happened in thread involving prayer and religion which he'd got involved in the same day we'd had our argument. I was not even involved in that thread. he felt badly about it.  something i found surprising honestly. but he said he felt remorseful, to his credit

he and i butted heads, sure, but again, i think 95% of it was private (via PM). anything serious never was made public. we both over reacted to each other i'll admit.  mods were always CC'd, by the way.  so none of this is me making stuff up to look like i have an inside story.

but our friction wasn't (from what i understand of our conversation) what ultimately precipitated his decision. his final post matches exactly what i heard from him privately. he embellished sometimes, sure, but i don't think he ever lied about something.  he generally said what he was thinking. if he wanted to point his finger at me as he went out the door, he would have.

i'll point out too that his account ( all of them)  are actually truly deleted (by the mods), not merely abandoned, which was a request he made explicitly.

  • Tweev added some great info to add to this place. You to weed through some of the pot stirring. It's hard to read the  tone of an online message, but I like to believe a lot of what he did was tongue-in-cheek.

i've been called out before by people for being harsh.  i suggested they read the post again as though one of their forum-friends had written it and not me, and whether they still thought it was harsh.  yeah, tone is hard to read, harder to type.  i hate emoticons with a passion, but started using them to try (try) to get tone across.

Ok, you have been around Tweev longer than I have. I'm still wondering. I still learned a lot from Tweev's postings. Also from stike and VI.

butwhy... i made a post to that effect ("mmm, first tweev's account is deleted, then VI the same day. i wonder if.... ") with a whistling emoticon after it.

thought better of it (because they AREN'T the same person), and deleted the comment. left the whistling icon though.

extra accounts are no new thing. anyone who has been around a couple years usually has six or seven.
