Paint my egg

I am tired of the normal green color of the egg. figured I would change it up a little and paint it a new color. Has anybody had any prior experience painting their egg? If so did it work and what kind of paint was used?

There was a guy on the other forum that painted his gold a few years ago. Tried to search the site but didn't come up with anything. It looked great in the posted pics. Automotive enamel maybe?

For the exterior, I mean. not for your innards (they don't ask to see the outside of your egg if your firebox cracks)Would this void the warranty?

They aren't going to cover Anything on the outside of that egg if it chips or the ceramic chunks. Nor should they.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
@Thecen-TexSmoker RTFM, or should I say the post, I quote, "I spoke to BGE corp. first before painting the egg. They were fine with it and said it will not void the warranty. Of course they can't be liable for repainting any replacement parts but they liked the concept and supported it - said the gold egg really looked great!"..... Huh!

Hey Jay- no need to get all fired up about it. If you want to paint your egg, go for it. As far as RTFM (or should i say post) goes, if you want to trust some dude on a forum who claims he spoke to BGE and got clearance from the tower on the warranty after painting his egg, your call as well. I don't have a dog in this fight so knock yourself out.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

I personally would check with the mothership instead of a forum post because they just updated their warranty, and it would be nice to see if your warranty was effected. To each their own.
