Hiawassee Eggfest this weekend...Any locals going?

 I was just informed of an Eggfest in Hiawassee, GA happening this weekend. I haven’t noticed anything here on the forums about it and was wondering if anyone in the GA/NC/SC/TN/AL area was heading that way. The weather should be incredible, the Hiawassee area is absolutely gorgeous (to the uninitiated), the fairgrounds up there are a great place to have any type of major function.... what’s up with no-buzz about it here?

Is it the distance? The price of admission for “tasters”? (20.00 single, 35.00 couple)? The lack of advertising? 

I would really like to attend...to see, to learn, to taste...and the reviews (Googled) of the first annual Eggfest up there last year sounded really good to me.

Just wondering.......

Wanted to go but the better half had already signed us up for another event with the Nashville Pond Society.  We will go next year.

Your right Smoke, not much buzz about this. I heard about it a few months ago but don't recall seeing anything lately. I live outside of Atl, so a short trip for me to make. Too bad I already committed to the Honey Do list today. Have a Butt on the Egg now so I guess I will do my own Egg-fest.

Wife and I about to head over, about 2 hours from us, but looking forward to it. Will be a beautiful drive.

I really wanted to go but we have the end of season baseball tourney for my 6 year old today and maybe tomorrow. Wouldn't miss this for anything.

Was there all day.  100 cooks and estimated over 1000 tasters.  GREAT TIME BY ALL!

The venue is amazing. We camped last year and just did the day thing this year and regret not making a weekend of it again. Its much more chill and laid back than eggtoberfest with the same great food. Basically the campgrounds/eggfest are an island surrounded by mountains and lakes. Can't wait till next year.

This forum does not run banners for Eggfests, but at the top of the page you can click on the EGGfests link and see what's on the schedule for the next few months.  Check it every month or so and found one fairly local earlier today. FWIW-
