New Dizzy Pig Bombay Curry-ish rub....So freaking good

The Cen-Tex Smoker
Posts: 23,161
So our good Friend Mickey sent me his sample of the new DP Bombay Curry-ish rub after a brief chat that I told him that I loved Indian food and cooking. It arrived yesterday and after one taste, TFJ and I made immediate plans to try it tonight. We both love Indian spices and we had to stop ourselves from eating it right out o the bag. Very high quality spices and the grind was absolutely perfect. The rub we were using had a courser grind which (although delicious) was a bit off putting and it was immediately obvious that this stuff was the real deal (for us anyway).
OK, enough fluff. Here is what we did:
Chicken Thighs (shocking, I know) dusted with Bombay Curry-ish rub. We then stuffed the thigh with Saag Paneer (saute'd spinach and un-aged yogurt/milk cheese with Indian spices) and a slice of jalapeno. We grilled the stuffed thighs on the egg then plated with Naan (bread), cardamom rice, and finished with Tikka Masala sauce. Full disclosure: we usually make all these ingredients, but tonight we bought them from our favorite Indian restaurant in Austin.
The meal was nothing short of amazing and the DP chicken was the star. My kids destroyed it and we all kept sneaking bites after the table was cleared. This is good stuff.
Thanks Mickey for making sure this rub found a good home. It is really good and I can't wait for it to be available at retail. Chris and the the peeps at DP stopped me from making rub 7 years ago and tonight was a perfect example of why.
Alright, enough of the love fest, here are the pics:
1- The rub
2- Saag Paneer in the bowl (so delicious)
3- Dp rubbed thigh with Saag stuffing
4- W/ Jalapeno (adult serving)
5- Rolled and stuffed
6- Naan on the griddle
7- Plated with Tikka Masala, Jalapeno, and Cilantro.........damn this was tasty
Every time I try to number my pics, they all get jumbled as I post. so....you may have to connect the dots. Either way, this is great stuff and the food was amazing
Enjoy...........Cen-Tex

John, not being a curry fan myself, I am glad to see it went to a good home. Man you had to make Chris proud. Still need to round you and Travis up for lunch my friend.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

It is now, no cream or butter in it yet B-) . Not at all my favourite indian dish but I made Rogan josh at a couple of fests and folks found it a little spicy.

It's good Newport. We have been using another "high end" (read expensive) Indian rub and this is hands down better. Even though the Dizzy actually has better flavor, it is close enough to say they are both really good. But when you consider the Dizzy is a little better on taste, then it really blows it away with the grind. It a finer grind and allows the flavors to blend much better than the other rub. The other one has some really big chunks and it's hard to get even flavors on your food. All said and done, big upgrade for me. Highly recommended.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
Thanks yall. @Little Steven, still just out for taste testing now. Looking like we're ready to go forward with labels/packaging, etc. We are aiming for a release the first day of summer if stuff falls into place. I may be able to round up a few more samples.
We're pretty stoked about Georgia!

You should get yourself to a fest. Gotta be a dozen of them in TX. There is one in Austin but I don't know if it's happened yet. There is also one near Temple but it has happened already. I was gonna get to that one this year.

I went to the Austin one (5 min from my house) but I was solo and didn't know anyone. Was supposed to meet Mickey but my wife broke her foot so I was a few hours late (I'm nothing if not committed)
. Mickey had to run so I just bumped around a little and took off.

Mickey cooks ribs in 15 minutes. I think he can do a ten pound but in half an hour. What an artiste
